From out of the sticky swamps of the south rises a sassy southern belle with a uniquely dark yet refreshing outlook on love.
Inspired by love, or the lack there of, Jennifer Pod has a delicious obsession with all things hearts.
From handcrafted heart shaped pinatas to amazing found object sculptures, to her own line of dark humor valentine cards, this lady is definitely not for the faint of heART.
In her short life span thus far, she has received the reader's choice award for Best Artist in the Houston Press 2009, as well as being featured in Modern Luxury magazine, the March 2010 edition.
Her creative process evolves from her need for things. Through this process she has developed her own line of dog, baby and people clothing, custom top tube pads and other bike accessories, Iphone cases, small clutch purses, and tote bags.
Besides her more heARTs and crafty side, Jennifer creates small and large scale mixed media paintings and found object sculptures. Her most popular sculptures are her handcrafted heart pinatas, which are shaped like the actual organ, chambers and all, are hollow, and can be used as a functional pinata.
These days, Miss Pod has built her new love dungeon in the downtown streets of New York City's lower east side. And as for her more recent feats of art fancy, she was featured in a History Channel documentary: Zombies the living history October 2011 as her zombie self, and is currently working on various photo blogs documenting hearts found in nature and the city, as well as juicy and very secret writing project.
